The Making of Pump (1990), Writer-Director

I spent the summer of 1990 in Boston making this feature-length piece about the making of a single album, one of Aerosmith’s greatest.  The band had been clean and sober for a little over a year, and the film brought the viewer into the heart of their recovery story as well as their tumultuous creative process, dominated as always by the irrepressible personality of front man Steven Tyler. The piece was a ratings smash on MTV and became a multi-platinum home video.
